On December 23, Beijing Energy International’s Lukou 50MW/100MWh energy storage project in Jiangning District, Nanjing, Jiangsu was successfully connected to the grid and began power generation, marking a key milestone in the company’s energy storage business deployment in the East China region.

The project covers a total area of about 10,000 square meters. Its core construction components include a 50MW/100MWh lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage system, one 110kV booster substation, and three 35kV collector circuits. Power is transmitted through a single 110kV transmission line connected to a standby 110kV bay at the Huake Substation, with a supporting 0.7-kilometer underground cable. The energy storage system is equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries, integrated PCS and transformer station, and other key equipment, and innovatively adopts a 1500V DC system and liquid-cooling technology to ensure efficient and stable operation. After commissioning, it will effectively alleviate peak-shaving pressure on the power grid in the Jiangning Development Zone and strengthen regional power supply security. Its operating model includes participation in the electricity spot market, providing services such as load shifting, as well as auxiliary frequency regulation.

With its grid connection, this project becomes a major contributor to Nanjing’s winter peak supply, accelerating the transition to a secure, clean, and efficient energy structure.
